IBM WSUG Open Source Lab - Part II
October 19th, 2007
This coming Thursday, Oct 25. We will be going again to the IBM innovation center to continue with the series on Websphere. This is great for all of us that wanted to get started and learn all about WebSphere and experiment with it.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about java, eclipse, and developing internet applications with websphere community edition. Even if you didn’t join us for the first session we are just starting with the fun part: so come this time, is not too late!
Please, if you are coming, RSVP to rserra3@uic.edu!!!!!
Agenda

6:00 pm - 6:30 pm EJB 3.0/JPA Overview
6:30 pm - 9:00 pm (1) Identify Use Cases & Domain Model
(2) Develop Application using EJB3.0/JPA 1.0
In WebSphere Users Group meeting, we will continue our four-part workshop entitled, “Building and Deploying a Solution Using IBM Open-Source Offerings.” We will be picking up where we left off last month, working with WebSphere Application Server Community Edition 2.0 and the Eclipse 3.3 environment to design, develop, deploy, and administer a dynamic web application. By the end of the four-part series, we hope to have a fully-functional web application using nothing but freely-available tools from IBM and other members of the Open Source Community.
In this month’s session, we will be looking at the Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) 3.0 architecture, focusing specifically on Session beans and the new Java Persistence API to build the domain model for our project.
Last month, we came up with five great ideas for potential applications to build in our lab. We set up a blog to discuss these project ideas, which you can find here:
