Week 10
Don’t forget, this is the last week to use an Engineering W to drop classes.
SIG-Code is getting the ball rolling on Monday with an overview of the ICPC, how it went on Saturday, and a review of problems if desired. The rest of the semester we will be covering varying topics in languages and programming, kicking it off with Perl at this meeting and next meeting, continuing on if there is enough interest.
5:30 pm, SEL 2262
SIG-Game is not meeting this Wednsday, but keep working on the game.
This Thursday, Niko Bessinas will be leading a workshop on Eclipse and Java. If you don’t know much (or anything at all) about the IDE Eclipse, you should come and we’ll help you get set up. If there’s time, we’d like experts or long time users of Eclipse to give us some details of their experiences and what they think Eclipse is good for. This is especially true for those who have used Eclipse with less standard plugins, or perhaps even just using Eclipse with C and C++ programming.
There will be cheesecake and sandwiches being served.
5:30 pm, SEO 1000.
SIG-LUG will meet as usual this Friday at 4:00 in SEL 2262, and will be discussing this Fall’s Installfest, so if you want to spread the Linux goodness or just promote your favorite distro, be there and let your input be heard.
SIG-Fun will be having movie night this Friday at 6:00 pm, to watch Colossus, The Forbin Project. Join us, it is compulsory.
Don’t forget, next Thursday, November 5th, from 3:30-6:00, the CS scavenger hunt is going on. You’re almost out of time to prepare, but you can still make it if you try!
You can follow along with the presentation materials at acm.cs.uic.edu/~sdeitz2
