The next two LAN Parties we are having are 3/16 after movie night and the
sponsored LAN party will be the Friday of Finals week (5/4).

 

If you aren't registered, please do! Pre-registered users will only have to
pay $5, and I am also not wiping the previous list. 

 

Seating will not matter for the Spring Break LAN party but WILL be enforced
for the ++LAN, and I haven't redone it so don't bother picking a seat yet. 

 

ALSO -- Collin will be handling Movie Night this Friday the 9th, the movie
will be Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

This is a reminder that the ACM officers elections for the 2012-2013 term
will be held April 12. The positions available are Chairman,
Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary. Position roles are outlined in
the UIC ACM bylaw, acm.cs.uic.edu/bylaws.

Those interested in running need to show up at the beginning of the
meeting to officially announce their interest and those wishing to become
officers are required to become National ACM members, are need to be
chapter members, either before or promptly after the election.

In order to vote at the election you must be a UIC ACM chapter member.

Feel free to discuss the election or announce or intention to run on the
ACM general mailing list, acm at uic.edu. Those with questions about the
election or the positions, please email the ACM officers mailing list,

Previously, Holada was CTO of predictive analytics that included global
responsibility for
product marketing, product strategy, research and development, and
technical support

IBM, in November 2006 as Senior Vice President of Research & Development,
bringing
with him nearly 20 years of deep software research and development

and movie night will start after we set up. 

 

Also, another reminder, last LAN party we had an unfortunate instance of
theft. I just want to give everyone a fair warning, if it happens ever
again, I WILL immediately look at tapes. ZERO TOLERANCE on things you know
you should not be doing, especially things which are considered illegal. I
shouldn't have to say it but I am reiterating it. If you feel you cannot
behave/function properly while here, then do not bother coming. That is all.

held at the Bowling Alley in Student Center East. The bowling alley
features 16 bowling lanes and 16 billiard tables. The event will be free to

Subject: [Acm-announce] ACM network - Policy Changes, New Announcements

Due to some network changes, the MAC address whitelist has been cleared 
out. This means that some people that had access to the ACM network no 
longer do. We are working on getting valid entries re-added to the new 
whitelist, but it is possible your machines entry will be missed or not 
added due to the reason listed below.

As part of a new policy only ACM members will get access to the ACM 
network, as machine registration is now directly linked to your ACM 
account. Guests will retain the ability to gain access temporarily for 
events or other special purposes. Registration is done in person at the 
ACM office.

For some good news, the ACM now has a wireless network for members use. 
Members with registered devices will be able to access the network using 
their ACM account name and password. Platform specific instructions are 
located at acm.cs.uic.edu/wireless.

There will be a Flourish Volunteer Meeting this Wednesday 03/28/2012 at
5:30 PM. This meeting will help set up what volunteers need to do at the
conference and to help create a strategy that will make the conference a
