It's Wednesday already! 5:00pm-7:00pm SEL 2260*, Our App-athon judge from
Windows Phone Division is graciously spending this time to help out any
participants. Additionally I will be there to lend my phone for testing
apps and help as well, despite having a paper due Friday which needs to be
worked on.   

 

Thursday is judging, make sure you have something which is functional and
you can present in front of our judge. Prizes will be awarded to the best
app :) but all are welcome to join us in SEO 1000 5:30-7ish to watch judging
as well as hear what it's like to move from an intern to a full-time
employee at tech companies (as well as a bunch more stuff) from a
presentation which he will be giving. Last but not least, he will also be
accepting resume's on behalf of Microsoft. 

 

* if you don't know where this is: From the Quad going to Taylor st. or
toward SES. Walk to the second door on the left side, take the stairwell to
the second floor, walk down the hall, look for the room number on the right,
the doors will have a sheet saying another room can be accessed through
there. If you enter the room and see two tables with 2 flat screen TV's you
are in the right spot.

It's just after Thanksgiving and we have a full week before finals start,
so why don't we just wind down before going crazy with a nice little LAN
party.  There has been interest in making it a potluck, so I just wanted to
see if there was an overwhelming want for it before declaring it as so.

So, if people could, just reply here so I can just see a response.

If it were to be potluck one would just bring in enough food to feed a good
number of people instead of paying $5-$10.  If you don't bring food, it
would probably still be a good idea to bring money so that those who didn't
bring any can get together to get some.

Also, just a heads up, The attendance list has been cleared, so don't
forget to sign up at acmlanparty.com and grab a seat.

When: December 1st, 2012.  Pre-setup before movie night on Friday (around
17:30), personal setup starting at 12:00 on Saturday

In line with my duties as Scribe, I am appriasing you of upcoming UIC ACM
events.

For the week of 11/19/12 - 11/25/12

   - SIG Sysadmin 11/20/12 (on Tuesday) at 5:15pm
   - No Publicity Committee meeting this week
   - Thanksgiving Break! (11/22/12 and 11/23/12)

Not much going on this week due to the small break we are granted by the
university.

Next week however is a different story, the list of events for the week of
11/26/12 - 12/2/12 is as follows:

   - SIG Sysadmin 11/27/12 (on Tuesday) at 5:15pm
   - SIG Game 11/27/12 (on Tuesday) between 1-3pm

So, remember this weekend is a Potluck LAN Party, so your payment is a dish
that can feed a good number of people rather than $5-$10.  If you don't
bring something, well then you better get some food for yourself.  A good
idea would be to bring your own utensils as I cannot guarantee any around
here.
