Hello, there will be a meeting this week at 5:30PM in SEL 2262. This week
I'll be starting to go over setting up a server and intend it to be a
continuing process setting up services similar to how I've described in the
first few meetings, which will include having services running on a VM and
having them appear as being on the VM host. That being said, I would like a
quick head count for this meeting since it will affect the amount of prep
work that may need to be done. If you are on the SIG mailing list join the
discussion there, otherwise either join our mailing list or email me
directly.

Just a reminder, there will be a meeting today and if you plan on attending
please contact me or respond to the thread on the sysadmin mailing list.
Depending on peoples workflow it may or may not stay in SEL 2262, you will
need a computer to work on.

For anyone that was unable to show up, but is still interested in getting
started with what will be worked on for the foreseeable future, you need to
email me or respond in the sysadmin mailing list so I can give you your
machine information. Everyone today was setup with a physical server,
PowerEdge 1950, that was booted into a remotely accessible install image of
Arch Linux. Currently the task is to get an installation setup that will
still be on the network and accessible by, at least, you remotely. There
will be areas of flexibility on how people go about their setups and what
software is used, but otherwise I will be using this as groundwork for
future meetings where we will continue to expand on your installs and learn
the topics I mentioned at the beginning of the year.

New functions have been posted in the repository under the "logic" branch.
We're going to assign them tomorrow (today?) and try and make the meeting
quick so people who are participating in the scavenger hunt can get there.
Be forewarned, these functions are significantly harder then the last
batch, but we did so well before, surely we're up for a challenge? See you
at 4.

event is a programming competition in which UIC students, either

Unfortunately I'm not feeling well, and won't be holding a meeting. 
However, it would seem that no one finished their task from last week 
completely so for this week I'm just going to add tasks in addition to 
the ones already given.

1. Get your server to sync against the networks NTP server
2. Install libvirt and get the daemon running, explore the virt-manager 
application and the virsh shell
3. Get your machine to redirect attempts to connect to port 80 and 443 
to the machine 172.29.0.2 instead, outside of a known cert warning that 
will happen, this should appear transparent.  How you do this is left to 
you.
4. Get a simple posfix mail server setup so your machine can set alerts, 
I recommend sending test emails to your ACM account for testing

Hi Guys,

SIG Code will not be meeting this week... However!

There are now walkthroughs for each of the functions you were assigned last
week on the git repository. If you haven't yet open up your git repository
and do a git pull origin logic. That should grab the necessary branch.
Please have these functions done by next week! It shouldn't take very long,
and as usual I will be accessible on the sigcode IRC. We will decide next
week how we will be finishing the project, there are a couple options, but
I want to make sure that we do at least get a minimum viable product out of
this.
