The event features lesser-known games across all genres and mediums and is staffed by passionate volunteers associated with the games community. 2015 is three times larger with over 50 alternative games, including a wide variety of art, culture and entertainment. Many games we exhibit aren?t commercially available and can?t be experienced anywhere else. The list includes virtual reality bomb-defusal simulator, a chill folk music jam session around a campfire, and a destructive 4-player bus rampage played in a half-pipe. Check out the festival trailer here. Our mission is to make video games accessible for everyone by: - Connecting with at-risk youth to foster an interest in technology and art. - Raising visibility for the growing independent games community. - Highlighting Chicago as a developing hub for those who love games, technology, or art. Games are a special way to get a pulse on culture. Attendees can meet game developers, industry professionals, and like-minded creatives while playing amazing games, eating delicious food, and supporting local businesses and artists. You'll hear more about the ACM Programming Competition (ICPC) later (in this email even), but I just wanted to get a head start on setting up for this year's competition. The practice competition this year will be happening on October 3rd. If you're interested in participating in the practice competition (no limitation on participants), please reply to sdeitz2 at uic.edu. This is the weekend of Reflections|Projections so we'll be doing it casually around the talks, but you're welcome to take it seriously as well. It's all online, so being collocated is nice, but optional. For information about the type of competition, here's last year's competition details. http://cs.ecs.baylor.edu/~hamerly/icpc/qualifier_2014/ The actual competition is on November 7th, registration isn't open for that yet, but priority will be given to participants in the practice competition if/when we have to decide on teams for the full competition. If you can't participate in the practice competition for any reason, you can email me about being on the list for the actual competition. For information on the actual competition, past problems, and other neat stuff you can check out http://icpc.baylor.edu/ ~Sean Deitz From allisonchannic at gmail.com Wed Aug 26 14:26:51 2015 From: allisonchannic at gmail.com (Allison Channic) Date: Wed, 26 Aug 2015 14:26:51 -0500 Subject: [Acm-announce] Job Opening - Systems Administrator at Northeastern Illinois University Message-ID: Hi all, Please see the attachment for information on a full-time systems administrator position at Northeastern Illinois University.
