*Abstract:*
Intro to machine learning: What is data science and machine learning, and
what do they have to do with computer science and software engineering?
We'll be giving a high level overview of common modeling techniques, some
of the popular data science technologies, and the basics of training,
validating, and scoring a model. We'll also discuss a few case studies on
how machine learning can be used to make a social good impact. Finally, the
talk will include an interactive exercise where we build a model as a group!
