Hello,

Our elections for officer positions for the 2019-2020 academic year are this Wednesday April 3rd at 5:30 PM in the CS Lounge.

Unfortunately we cannot support absentee voting. If you are not able to attend the entire event, you may give a vote in writing to a current ACM officer at any point between 5:30pm and close of voting.

I would like to remind everyone that this mailing list is for ACM-related announcements. Discussions of this nature are outside the scope of this mailing list. 

The ACM remains committed to supporting our entire CS community, especially women. This includes supporting WiCS, the primary organization for women?s advocacy within the CS department. Former officers do not speak for the current administration. The ACM officers do not support the dissolution of WiCS, and will continue to work together with WiCS to safeguard spaces for women in the department.

Hello Everyone

Here at ACM, we have over 100 members, and only have one fridge.
Additionally, UIC is a commuter school, so many of our students rely on the
fridge to store their lunches for the day. Most students use this fridge
reasonably and respectfully, however we have updated our fridge policy
slightly in order to clarify how this fridge is to be used. We are adding
the following new additions to the Fridge Policy

- Items left in the fridge for over 48 hours will be thrown out
- Please Be reasonable with the amount of food stored, try to limit
yourself to one meal at a time, not a whole weeks worth of food
- Any food put in over the weekend (Saturday or Sunday) must be labelled or
it will be thrown away.

These policies are in addition to existing fridge policies

If your food is in a non-disposable container, that container will be
placed either on top of the fridge or in the ACM lost and found for a
little while, and then will eventually be thrown away if not claimed.

Finally, this shouldn't need to be explicitly spelled out, but if you leave
what appears to be garbage in the fridge (empty container, a bag consisting
of only an empty container) that will be thrown away immediately.

Thanks for your time, and like I said, most people are using the fridge
respectfully so this should not effect very many of you. If you have any
questions please speak with or e-mail me personally. If you have an
extenuating circumstances affecting your fridge usage, please let us know
and we will try to accommodate you.
