SQL Server Management and Improvements

Project Member(s)

Purpose

The ACM currently hosts a MariaDB instance for mySQL hosting. The intention of this project in to expand and improve the ACM database hosting service(s). The idea is to deploy a new MariaDB instance and a PostgreSQL instance, the intention is to also use PostgreSQL as the ACM's noSQL hosting offering, that can be offered to the ACM membership base. Ideally member databases could be created automatically for personally use of both systems, or at least easily through some mechanism. Both systems should support LDAP logins for member accounts. Postgres and Maria both support LDAP logins either natively or via a plugin. Further potential for this project is to explore Master/Slave replication, clustered deployment, and other management tools.
