Next week (October 15-19) the UIC LUG (Linux Users Group) will be holding
it's annual Newbie Week. Each night (Monday through Friday) there will be a
different talk every night on some introductory Linux topic. The talks will
start at 5:00pm in SELE 2254 every night next week, and probably go for a
half hour to an hour depending on audience interaction.

The talks will consist of the following:

Monday (10/15/2012):
Installing Ubuntu
Presented by Chase Lee

Tuesday (10/16/2012):
Using Linux at UIC
Presented by Walter Dworak

Wednesday (10/17/2012):
Connecting to Linux From Other Systems
Presented by Tony Phelps and Chase Lee

Thursday (10/18/2012):
Using the Shell
Presented by Joel

Friday (10/19/2012):
Working with Code
Presented by Tony Phelps

The presentation files can be found on the UIC LUG website Events page (
http://lug.cs.uic.edu/events.html). Though they are a bit out of date, very
little will be changed before the presentations. We will be employing our
own expertise on the topics to improve and customize the talks to be
optimized for the audience in attendance. After the presentations
are given updated versions will be released.

Hope to see you there,
Tony Phelps
UIC LUG President 2012-2013
