*Position Summary:*

Develops, modifies, enhances and implements moderately complex systems
under general supervision and with assistance from more experienced and
knowledgeable staff.



Duties and Responsibilities:



Performs a combination of the following duties according to departmental
guidelines:

• Codes, tests, debugs, and documents technical assignments of moderate
complexity

• Understands and evaluates business requirements, determines system
requirements and proposes technical and procedural solutions to address them

• Develops solutions according to design specifications that are thorough,
accurate, and conform to development standards

• Independently researches and resolves basic to moderately complex
technical problems

• Performs unit testing and documents test activities/results to ensure
error-free execution

• Participates in normal support coverage rotation as scheduled. Provides
support and maintenance for one or more moderately complex applications.
Support may require working outside the regular work schedule for
installation, testing and setup.

• Performs other duties as assigned.



Experience:



2-3 years experience in software development in a professional or academic
environment.  Prior experience with financial industry systems as well as
internship(s) with related experience is a plus.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



Basic to intermediate level skills and/or coursework with the following
languages and/or technologies required:

o Java

o Scripting

o Linux or Unix OS

o Object oriented design



Basic level skills with the following languages and/or technologies are a
plus:

o Exposure/familiarity with networking and messaging

o Experience in software performance tuning techniques

o Object modeling

o Use of development Agile process guidelines

o Development experiences within a real time, highly available system on
Linux servers

o Exposure to big data (i.e. Hadoop)

o Exposure to any new technologies



Basic to intermediate analysis and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to effectively learn and use new programming concepts, tools, and
methodology to support the needs of the business

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical details

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal
direction.  Must be able to complete work assignments accurately and on
time, while simultaneously completing complex tasks to accomplish goals.

• Ability to contribute to project plans by identifying tasks, estimating
time and work efforts

• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

• Ability to collaborate successfully and develop productive working
relationships with other member of the development team and Systems staff



Education:



Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related
field
