Just a quick reminder that Reflections|Projections 2017 registration has
opened up recently.  People attending with the ACM at UIC group should
register on the conference site in addition to any local chapter
registrations/procedures.  Specific questions should be directed to
officers at acm.cs.uic.edu.

*Speakers/Performances*

*This year we will be showcasing Brian Fox, the inventor of Bash, and Chris
Gladwin, the founder of Cleversafe and Ocient, who will be speaking on the
evenings of September 28th and September 26th, respectively. On the evening
of September 30th we will be featuring Kicking the Mic, a lights and dance
performance by Laura Kriefman. Check out her other work at

*Our speakers and workshops this year are organized into four Tracks based
on particular concentrations in Computer Science: Data/AI,
Security/Privacy, HCI/VR, and Systems. Attend the events most relevant to
your interests! Meals will be provided for registered attendees throughout
the weekend of the conference from September 29th to October 1st.*

*Don’t forget to get involved with the Electronic Trading Challenge (ETC)
powered by Jane Street on September 23rd, and MechMania, an AI programming
competition, on September 29th. Both of these hackathon-esque events, one
completely new and one as old as R|P, are completely free to attend. Check

*The annual puzzle contest PuzzleBang! is back again, consisting of a
series of online puzzles throughout the week and Escape Rooms, running from

*Career Fairs*

*Last, but not least, use Reflections | Projections to network with
companies at our two career fairs. We have a Startup Fair on September 26
and a Career Fair on September 27. Both fairs will be held in the Siebel
Atrium and second floor from 10AM to 4PM and have a casual dress code!
