Reflections Projections Sign Up Roster

Reflections Projections is an annual student computing conference that will be held in Urbana-Champaign on Oct 7-9. Here is a link with more available details.

We would like to reserve the hotel by the end of the week, in order to do this we need an accurate head count and we need to know when you will be arriving. The ACM will cover overnight stays at a hotel for Friday and Saturday nights. We have the option for Thursday if you are going ahead of time so that we know if you will not be needing a ride from another member, a person taking this option will have to find their own lodgings for Thursday.

Here is a link to the sign up roster.

Special Interest Group Registration & SIG Fair Registration

If you'd like to register to become an official special interest group (SIG) at the ACM, please email the officers at acm-officers@uic.edu. Each special interest group that is registered with us will receive several benefits including:

  • Advertising on the ACM Website and inclusion of the SIG in our promotional material such as brochures, flyers, and more
  • Financial support (if necessary) for events, meetings, and projects
  • Assistance with room reservations for events and meetings
  • Participation at our Welcome Week "SIG Fair" meeting

If you'd like to start a SIG, please email acm-officers@uic.edu and include with your email the two members who would like to help start your SIG. In addition to this, please provide a brief description of the SIG and what the SIG will be doing. If you are renewing your SIG, please also email us so we do not remove your SIG due to inactivity.

Finally, please let us know if you'd like to participate in the SIG Fair. The SIG Fair will be held on the first week of school and is included in the incoming student information regarding Welcome Week. The fair will be used to show what your SIG does, what it is about, when it meetings, and essentially try to recruit members!

ACM Meeting Minutes

The ACM will be posting meeting minutes each general meeting that we have so that those who cannot attend may find out what has happened during the meeting. Please feel free to visit our first meeting minutes for the year by going to the Meeting Minutes link on the left menu.

Officer Election Results

Hello, First of all, I would like to thank everyone who showed up to the meeting and participated in voting for the next group of officers of ACM.

Secondly, I would like to thank everyone who decided to run for a position this year.

Lastly, I would like to thank the current leadership of ACM. The past year flew by, and it wasn't the easiest thing to do, but at least I enjoyed myself and it was a great experience.

Here are your new ACM officers for the 2011-2012 school year:

 President - Stephen Liang

Vice President - Walter Dworak

Treasurer - Brian Kapustka

Secretary - Allie Curry

Congratulations new officers! Good luck on your finals (or midterms for the unfortunate few like myself) in the coming weeks everyone! And I hope you all enjoy your summer!

Main ACM site now uses HTTPS for login

Certain security changes have been made to the ACM website that will be noticeable to anyone logging in. Certain sections of the website now use https instead of http, most notably the login section and any page under /user. If you have not already accepted the ACM's ssl cert in your browser you will be prompted to the next time you try and log in. All other acm.cs.uic.edu sites that were originally secured with https should not have been affected by the implementation of this feature. However, if you find a problem with one of those site, please report it to me (either in email or as a comment) and include all relevant information.
