ACM Server and Workstation Maintenence [September 3, 2017]

Hello All,

 

The ACM/LUG servers/workstations will be undergoing maintenance this Sunday, September 3, 2017.  System adminstrators will be performing general server and workstation maintenance.  Maintenance is expected to be performed throughout Sunday.  As such, services may be inaccessible throughout the day on Sunday.

 

Downtime will effect ALL ACM services, including, but not limited to:

  • Email
  • GitLab
  • IRC
  • Mailing Lists
  • Websites (All subdomains)
  • Virtual Machines
  • Messaging services
  • Application services
  • VPN
  • Workstation access

 

If you have any questions, feel free to contact an ACM officer and/or a Systems Administrator.

ACM Server and Workstation Maintenence Continues

Hello All,

Unfortunately, we were not able to fully update everything during the maintenance window this past weekend due to short staffing. We will continue to work on fixing any issues that arises with ACM services.

 

Current known issues:

  • GitLab is Down
  • KanBoard emails may not be sending
  • Readline dependency is missing [Solved]

 

If you encounter issues with an ACM service, please inform a SysAdmin via the SIGSysAdmin listserv or via the #sig-sysAdmin on Slack.

ACM Cleaning & IT Maintenence [May 27, 2017]

The ACM/LUG office will be cleaned this Saturday, May 27, 2017.  If anyone would like to help out, please feel free to come by.

100 & 200 Level Programming Competition!

Hello everyone,
ACM present's this year's 100 & 200 level programming competition! Yes, you read that right - it's a programming competition catered to your level!
Details
Where: CS Lounge (SELE 2268)
When: Tuesday, April 11th
Time: 4pm-7pm
Yes, we will have yummy food for you. :)
Registration
1. Each member must register for a Hackerrank account using UIC email at www.hackerrank.com.
2. Register for the competition at: www.hackerrank.com/acmuic-programming-contest-2017
3. Each member must RSVP here: https://goo.gl/forms/VEg4ZGd7ewGt5ZWp2
4. Know your team members before the competition begins. You will be given 30 minutes from the start of the competition (4:00pm - 4:30pm to submit teams)
Teams
Compete solo or form a team of at most 3 students where all team members are on the same level. For example, if you are a CS 141 student forming a team then all other team members must also be in the 100 level courses. No 200 level team may have a team member on the 100 level team. The same rules apply for 200 level teams.
100 level teams will only compete against other 100 level teams.
100 level means: CS 111, CS 141, CS 151
200 level teams will only compete against other 200 level teams.
200 level means: CS 211, CS 251, CS 261
Programming Language
You must choose one of the following languages: C, C++, or Java.
Outside resources such as the internet are allowed.
Prizes
Prizes will go out to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams on each level.
For the 200 level, 1st place prize is....drum roll...Arduino UNO Kits!
Other prizes include: laptop stands, Cracking the Coding Interview books, insulated travel mugs, bluetooth headphones, and more!
